interview 2024

Interviewer:
What is your name?
My name is Victor Alcazar, a painter from Guadalajara, very Mexican.

What is your favorite artistic medium in painting?
Acrylic paint is my preferred medium and the one I work with best.

How do collectors find out about your work?
(social media, gallery, recommendations, etc.)
Generally recommendations.
Usually, people who contact me have seen a work or mural in the home of one of my collectors, so I show them my catalog of available works.

In your personal experience, what is the profile of the collector who prefers your work?
People who like original Mexican art.
Usually people who travel a lot, art teachers, artists in general who decide that it is important to have one of my works decorating their spaces.

Generally, how many works do those who collect your art acquire?
Usually two to four works, or as many as their space allows, and they acquire them over the years, checking my catalog or by continuing to attend my exhibitions, my gallery, or they are aware of my social networks or contact me directly asking for an appointment to show them my recent works.

What attracts them to your work in particular?
They really like the colors, the funny, Mexican, unique and original style that could be said to be critical and funny at the same time.

What is the work of art that you value most in your collection?
I really like the works I create thinking about the masses,
I really like to paint trucks full of people, animals, characters, and situations that only happen in those crowded places where everything happens at the same time.
That seems magical to me.

Artistic Interests:
What themes or artistic styles interest you most at the moment?
Right now I'm working on developing a funnier and more colorful style without ceasing to be Mexican or critical of situations.

What artists inspire you?
My favorite artists are the first-generation Mexican muralists and one in particular who has marked me is Gabriel Flores, who has given me a lot of material to think about and develop with his mural and easel work.

What are you looking for when creating a work of art? Final result of creation
(technique, concept, investment, etc.)
I seek to satisfy showing myself that I can express my ideas through painting, it is a language that I need to exercise just as literature would be.

How often do you acquire new works of art?
I generally support other artists by inviting them to my personal projects and in passing I acquire some of their works constantly because I know how important it is to do that.

Purchasing Habits:
Where do you usually buy art? (galleries, fairs, online, etc.)
Directly from the artists.
Fortunately, I have a close relationship and it is easy for me to establish relationships with them, so I don't need to look far.

What do you think is the ideal channel that the artist should use to send their collectors information about new works or exhibitions? (email, social media, etc.)
Mainly working and disappearing for a while doesn't hurt anyone, after having something important to say, appearing to show new works, perhaps collections, and showing it on social media, which is the most effective as a regular medium today.

What comments have you received about the experience of acquiring one of your works of art?
After acquiring my work or having hired me for a mural, they are happy and after that I make two or three more sales for new collectors of my work.

What kind of additional information do you add to your works for a benefit?
(certificates of authenticity, stories behind the works, etc.)
Well, the most important thing is that it is original work,
You won't see it anywhere else in the world, so you can be sure that my work is a good investment in the future and in the present it is something that is enjoyed in many ways.

What kind of events or art-related activities do you get involved in?
I organize some art events for other artists and apart from that I don't have much time for other activities so I dedicate myself to my work after that.

Anything else you want to add to finish the interview?
As a final comment, I appreciate this interview and the collectors of my work for supporting my career.
